 Dear reader here we are providing some question on course of action and assumption which will more useful in your banking exam.

Direction (1-5): In each question below are given a statement followed by two courses of action numbered I and II. A course of action is a step or administrative decision to be taken for improvement, follow – up or further action in regard to the problem, policy etc on the basis of the information given in the statement. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true. Then decide which of the two given suggested courses of action logically follows for pursuing. Give answer
(1) If only I follows
(2) If only II follows
(3) If either I or II follows
(4) If neither I nor II follows.
(5) If both I and II follow

1.    Statement: The dolphin population in India has been decreasing sharply over the past few years.  
Courses of Action: I. Dolphins should be declared an endangered species and bred in aquariums or protected areas.
II. Locals should be enlisted to protect dolphins

2.    Statement: Cell phone users have found that tariff plans are not as attractive as promoted by telecom companies and complained to regulatory authority about the same.
Courses of Action: I. The regulatory authority should direct telecom companies to be transparent on the tariff structure of all same.
II. The government should restrict the number of telecom companies operating in the country.

3.    Statement:  A number of school children in the local schools have fallen ill after the consumptions of their subsidized Tiffin provided by the school authority.
Courses of Action: I. The Tiffin facility of all schools should be discontinued with immediate effect.
II. The government should implement a system to certify the quality of Tiffin provided by the school

4.    Statement:  Heavy rains hit the state during October, just before the State Assembly elections, and caused heavy damage to standing crops in most parts of the state.
Courses of Action: I. Elections should be postponed to give candidate the opportunity to campaign.
II. The Government should announce a relief package for those who are affected.

5.    Statement: An increasing number of graduates produced by Indian universities are unemployable.
Courses of Action: I. Colleges and Institutes of higher decided the course content.
II. World-class foreign universities should be encouraged t set up campuses in India

Directions (6-10): In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You have to consider the statement and the following assumption and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.
Give answer (1) if only assumption I is implicit.
Give answer (2) if only assumption II is implicit.
Give answer (3) if either assumption I or assumption II is implicit. 
Give answer (4) if neither assumption I nor assumption II implicit. 
Give answer (5) if both assumptions I and II are implicit.

6. Statement: If parking space is not available in office, park your vehicles in the mall and walk to the office.
Assumptions
I. The mall is at a walk able distance from the office.
II. The office does not allow visitors’ vehicles in its premises.

7. Statement: Farmers must immediately switch over to organic fertilizers from chemical fertilizers for better yield.
    Assumptions
I. All the farmers use only chemical fertilizers.
II. Organic fertilizers are readily available to the farmers.

8. Statement: An advertisement by bank X ‘Our interest rates for education loans are lower than any other bank’.
Assumptions
I. Some other banks also provide education loans.
II. Interest rates charged on education loans are different for             different banks.

9.  Statement: For any kind of problem with your mobile phone, contact our help desk immediately.
     Assumptions
I. Help desk has a solution to all kinds of problems related to                    mobile phones or will guide accordingly.
II. Unless the problem is reported immediately, it cannot be solved.

10.  Statement: Use our medicine to fight the problem of obesity.
Assumptions
I. Other slimming medicines available in the market do not reduce 
   weight.
II. Obesity cannot be controlled without medicines

ANSWERS WITH EXPLANATION:

1.    (5):
 Both the courses of action will help increase the population of dolphins

2.    (1):
 Being “not as attractive as promoted” is a clear case of hiding things. Hence “transparency” is the answer to the problem and I follow. II. goes against the spirit of free market and is not relevant to the problem either

3.    (2):
I would be an extreme action. II is a proper corrective measure

4.    (5):
 I follow because holding the elections at this juncture would render the exercise meaningless. II follows for “heavy damage”

5.    (4):
 Neither focuses in the real reason of unemployed ability

6.    (1):
Only assumption I is implicit in the statement. Vehicle is parked at a distance which is not far away from the destination.

7.    (2):
Only assumption II is implicit in the statement. The use of term all in the assumption I makes it invalid.

8.    (5):
Clearly both the assumptions are implicit in the statement.

9.    (5):
It is mentioned in the statement that for any kind of problem. Contact help desk. It implies that help desk suggests solutions to all kinds of problems related to mobile phones. Therefore, both the assumptions are implicit in the statement.

10.  (4):
None of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.
