Suffix and Prefix help us to conclude the meaning of a word but sometimes you may conclude wrong meaning with the use of suffix and prefix. Now let us see some more such words :-

COMMONPLACE  (N/Adj.)
Right Meaning:-
  • done very often
  • an event, etc. that happens very often and is not unusual
Wrong Guess
From word "commonplace", you may guess something of place that is common.
                                                                                                                                           
RESENT  (V)
Right Meaning:-
  • to feel bitter or angry about something, especially because you feel it is unfair
Wrong Guess
Don't guess word resent for re (again) + sent (send).
                                                                                                                                           
REPEAL  (N/V)
Right Meaning:-
  • cancel officially
  • the act of abrogating; an official or legal cancellation

Right Meaning:-
  • having no energy or enthusiasm
  • a feeling of lack of interest or energy

  • to say that something is true, especially in an argument
  • to compete against somebody in order to gain something
  • eg:- Three armed groups were contending for power.

ACCIDENCE   (N)
Right Meaning
  • the part of grammar that deals with the inflections of words (=changes in their form according to their function in the sentence)

Right Meaning:-
  • the ability to remember something
  • to recall your memory
Wrong Guess

CONTENTION  (N)
Right Meaning:-
  • angry disagreement between people
Wrong Guess
There is no relation between contention and content. In first glance, you may think it is noun of content.

                                                                                                                                           
REDRESS (N/V)
Right Meaning
  • to correct something that is unfair or wrong
  • payment, etc. that you should get for something wrong that has happened to you or harm that you have suffered.
Wrong Guess
Don't guess word Redress for Re-dress. Re means again and Dress means to wear. There is no relation of word redress with Re-dress.
