Ratio:- The Comparison of any two quantities is called the ratio.
Condition:- if we want to compare any two quantities both are must be in same units.
Ex: 2kgs : 3kgs then the ratio is 2:3 or 2/3.
Here, 2 is called Antecedent
3 is called consequent.
Types of ratios:
if the given ratio is a:b then
1) Duplicate ratio: a^2 :b^2
2) Sub duplicate ratio :square root of a: square root of b
3) Triplicate ratio: a^3:b^3
4) sub Triplicate ratio: cube root of a: cube root of b
5) Inverse ratio: 1/a:1/b
6)compound ratio:-
if the given ratios are a:b&c:d then the compound ratio is ac:bd.
Examples:- Duplicate ratio of 4:5 =16:25
Subduplicate ratio of 25:36 =5:6
Triplicate ratio of 8:3 = 512:27
sub triplicate ratio of 4:3 = cube root of 4:cube root of 3
inverse ratio of 9:5=5:9
compound ratio of 2:3 and 4:7= 8:21
These are basics that should know in ratios and Will post proportion basics tomorrow.
