: Staff Selection Commission conducts an All India Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade C and D. In the year 2017, the Commission intends to conduct the written examination of SSC Stenographer 2017 from September 4 to 7, 2017 in computer based mode. The Commission will release recruitment notice on June 17, 2017. Candidates are required to apply online for the exam. Aspirants under SSC Stenographer 2017 recruitment will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of total marks in the written examination. However, those qualifying the written examination will be called for the skill test which is qualifying in nature. Candidates will be provided an appointment in various Ministries/Departments of Central Government to the post of Stenographer Grade C and D. Nationality:
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East 2 African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Age Limit:
Candidates should be in between 18-27 years i.e candidates must not have born not before 02-08-1989 and not later than 01-08-1998.
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have passed class 12 standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
Important dates of SSC Stenographer 2017 exam

Application Forms for SSC Stenographer 2017 exam should be submitted in online mode. The SSC Stenographer application form 2017 will be made available on June 17, 2017. The last to apply for the exam is July 15, 2017. Candidates should note that only online applications will be accepted. Application Fee in respect of online application can be paid through SBI Challan/ NET banking using credit and debit cards. The application fee for General Category candidate is Rs 100/-. SSC Stenographer Exam Centres 2017
SSC will conduct the SSC Stenographer 2017 exam across various 86 exam cities spread throughout the country. No request for change of SSC Stenographer Exam Centres 2017 will be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates should enter their choices of exam centres while filling up the application form. The candidates will have to select the centres carefully and correctly in their applications.
SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2017
All candidates who will apply successfully will be issued Roll Numbers for SSC Stenographer 2017 exam. The SSC Stenographer admit card will be made available region-wise for downloading at least two weeks before the commencement of examination. The admit card will not be sent by post to the candidates. If any candidate is unable to download his/her admit card before the examination should immediately contact the concerned regional/sub-regional office of the Commission with details such as registration id, transaction id of SBI, copy of challan etc for obtaining the admission certificates.
SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2017
The SSC Stenographer 2017 exam will consist of computer based test (CBT) and skill test in Stenography. As per the SSC Stenographer exam pattern 2017, the CBT will consist of one objective type paper comprising of three parts: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language and Comprehension. The total marks allotted for the written exam is 200 marks. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the CBT will only be called for skill test. The Commission will fix qualifying marks in each part of the written examination. The skill test will be qualifying in nature. In the Stenography Test, candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade, C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade, D.
SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2017
The Syllabus of SSC Stenographer has been made available here for the candidates. The SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2017 covers all the important topics from general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, english language and comprehension. The topics in reasoning includes both verbal and non-verbal type. Topics in the general awareness has been designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society.
SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2017
The answer Key of SSC Stenographer will be released by SSC few days after the conduct of CBT. Using the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2017, candidates will be able to calculate their probable score of the exam. The answer key will contain the correct answers of questions asked in the general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, english language and comprehension of SSC Stenographer examination. As per the scheme of examination, there will be total 200 questions. For each wrong answers, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
SSC Stenographer Result 2017
The SSC Stenographer result 2017 will be declared in November, 2017. Candidates qualifying the CBT by securing the minimum qualifying marks will be called for the Skill Test in Stenography. The Commission will fix a minimum qualifying marks for the written examination. The marks of both qualified and non-qualified candidates will be made available within a week from the date of declaration of result. The skill test will be qualifying in nature and SSC will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates. Only the marks obtained in the written examination will be considered for preparing the final merit list.
SSC Stenographer Cutoff 2017
SSC will fix cutoff score for each category to select candidates for next level of the recruitment process. On the basis of SSC Stenographer cutoff 2017 in the CBT, candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test. Candidates who will be meet the cutoff score in the skill test will only be considered for allocation.

SSC Stenographer Selection Procedure 2017
The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of their performance in the CBT followed by the Skill test. Allocation of candidates to the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ in various service/departments/cadres within the post will be done on the basis of merit-cum-option.
